Virtual reality digital therapeutic company Mynd Immersive, formerly MyndVR, in partnership with Meta and select content producers, has been selected by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs to roll out prescriptive VR therapies across VA medical centers nationwide.

Mynd Immersive, which has an established relationship with the VA, is a therapeutic virtual reality platform focused on older adults, particularly those in senior living communities, aging at home, hospice settings and veterans homes.

The company offers immersive experiences aimed at reducing chronic pain, anxiety, stress and social isolation.

The VA said the partnership advances immersive therapy as a non-pharmacological alternative for pain management to help improve veterans' mental, physical and emotional well-being.

The initiative will use Mynd's immersive therapies to help veterans fighting chronic pain, stress, anxiety and isolation in at-home care settings and will help with cost efficiency, the department said.

The VA has utilized Mynd Immersive's offerings in the past, including performing a multi-site clinical study in nine Pennsylvania-based VA medical centers and a home pilot program in Mississippi with more than 500 veterans.

The new initiative will see Mynd Immersive rolled out in 45 additional VA medical centers.

"This program really defines what Immersive Healthcare is all about. It gives doctors and clinicians a powerful new digital tool that is highly effective and scalable," Chris Brickler, CEO and cofounder of Mynd Immersive, said in a statement.

"Our Veterans have earned access to the most advanced tools we can provide, and we're proud to support their mental, physical, and emotional well-being both at home and in clinical settings."

THE LARGER TREND

Mynd Immersive has been a longtime player in the medical extended reality (medical X) space.

In December, the company announced a major expansion of its partnership with contract therapy provider Select Rehabilitation to deploy MyndXR, the company's flagship therapeutic platform, across more than 500 senior living communities nationwide.

MyndXR, powered by AT&T 5G, provides physical, occupational and speech therapists with support during rehabilitation through VR-based cognitive exercises, workout modules and immersive videos aimed at alleviating pain and reducing anxiety.

The partnership saw Mynd's technology rolled out to more than 150,000 residents in nearly 40 states.

Over the years, Mynd has also formed partnerships with the Peplinski Group, which has 10 managed senior care communities throughout Michigan, and AgeWell New York, whose CareWell members would gain in-network access to Mynd's VR therapy sessions.
